About Churches for CASA

This year, Ark Bible Church will be hosting the first annual “Churches for CASA” Worship Night Benefit Concert. It’s my hope that everyone reading this will come, and bring friends and family! It has been an collaborative and growing project that was born in Ark Bible, but reaches beyond the walls of our church to bring together the entire community: whether you belong to a church or not. It will be an evening that brings the people of God together to worship Jesus, and also raise money for our neighbors in the community, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). The heart of this project has been two-fold: Unity and Outreach.

Unity is important to Jesus. He said in John 17:20-23:
I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one…Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”

In other words, our best tool to reach our community is unity. So we wanted to create an evening so that no matter what church you attend, we can praise and worship together. “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead” (Ro. 10:9), this is the place for you. The music may be contemporary and upbeat. And there may be some lights. But it’s all in an effort to reach our second goal: Outreach. We always try to create a church that churched and unchurched people would love to attend. And this event is no different. We believe that the best way to reach out into the community is to meet a need in the community. Jesus was always meeting the needs of those in need around Him. So we figured that while we have all these Jesus followers in one room, why not try to do some good for the community while we’re at it? We know that Jesus loves kids (Matt. 19:14). That’s why we’ve decided to partner with CASA, a well known organization in the community that has children as the focus. Lincoln County has one of the highest rates of children in foster care in Oregon: nearly 200 children currently live in a foster care. CASA of Lincoln County was founded to serve local abused and neglected children age 0-17. Without the powerful voice of an advocate, children too often return to unsafe homes or languish in long-term foster care, risking further abuse or neglect. Resources currently allow CASA to serve only 2/3 of the need; – they still have 37 children on a waiting list. CASA of Lincoln County has helped to change the lives of more than 2,500 children by providing them with powerful advocacy.  Currently CASA of Lincoln County serves nearly 200 children annually with 40 volunteers and 2 staff. That’s why the “Churches for CASA” Worship Night Benefit Concert was created. To unify the church and reach out to our neighbors in need. So please join us Friday, November 28th at 7pm at Ark Bible Church – 453 SW Coast Hwy, Newport (the old theater in the deco district). Donations will be accepted at the door, and all proceeds will go to CASA of Lincoln County.
